September 10, 2009In a last minute decision, lawyers for the City of New York have conceded that the New York City Coalition for Accountability Now (NYC CAN), a group comprising 9/11 family members, first responders and survivors, indeed did submit over 30,000 valid signatures to put the referendum for a new 9/11 investigation before the voters of New York City this November. Tomorrow, DNC Chairman Tim Kaine will lead a community service event at SafePlace, a nationally recognized domestic violence and rape crisis center in Austin in commemoration of the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 and on the first National Day of Service and Remembrance. President Obama signed the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act into law last April, legislation that connects hundreds of thousands of people to community service opportunities and officially recognizes September 11th as a National Day of Service and Remembrance.
