The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today began collecting biometrics - digital fingerprints and photographs - from non-U.S. citizens departing the United States as part of a pilot program at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Since 2004, biometrics have helped DHS prevent the use of fraudulent documents, protect visitors from identity theft and stop thousands of criminals and immigration violators from entering the United States. At this critical time when the public, government leaders and others are calling for executive compensation and employee bonus reforms, it appears that there is relatively little connection between business ethics and corporate compensation, according to a recent survey conducted by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) and its sister organization, the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA). After initial signals that President Obama would not meet with them, officers of Rolling Thunder, Inc. were invited to the White House on May 22 in advance of the group's 22nd annual Memorial Day weekend demonstration to raise awareness of POWs/MIAs and veterans issues. The nearly 90-minute meeting, which included both the President and his aides, is viewed by Rolling Thunder officials as a positive step in getting POW/MIA and veterans issues on the White House's priority list. Carrie Prejean, who serves as Miss California USA, will tour the USS Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 7, departing from San Diego to begin a regularly scheduled Western Pacific deployment. Prejean and her sister, Christine, will be the guest of Michael Reagan, author and eldest son of former President Reagan, and the U.S. Navy.
