The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace (CDW) today expressed disappointment about Senator Mark Warner's decision to vote for cloture of the anti-worker Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). The Employee Free Choice Act -- or "card check" bill will effectively eliminate secret ballots for workers in union-organizing elections and bind employers to non-negotiated contracts that inhibit their ability to create much-needed new jobs. For the first time ever, investors and fund managers are now able to compare the carbon footprints of leading U.S. mutual funds, thanks to a report released today by Trucost, the world's foremost environmental data & research company. The report shows that the carbon intensity of mutual funds varies widely, with the highest-carbon fund found to be 38 times more carbon intensive than the fund with the smallest carbon footprint. In a newly released Washington Legal Foundation working paper, international lawyer Lawrence Kogan describes the U.S. Navy's challenge in convincing the U.S. Supreme Court to vacate a green injunction effectively preventing critical U.S. Naval sonar training exercises from taking place off the Southern California coast. The injunction had been issued on the grounds that the Navy's failure to prepare a full environmental impact statement could trigger possible but scientifically unverifiable discomfort to beaked whales.Full release.
