The newly elected chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), Michael Steele, today announced his transition team to review all party operations and begin preparing for this year's elections. Comprised of current RNC members, the transition team will help implement the sweeping changes Steele proposed during his campaign for chairman. Under Chairman Steele's leadership, the RNC will focus on recruiting a new cadre of top-notch candidates and operatives, build new volunteer networks, and forge new working relationships with state and local parties.

Today former Senator Tom Daschle withdrew his name for consideration as a nominee to head up the Health and Human Services Department (HHS). From the beginning Senator Daschle has made clear his plans of running point for President Obama for a government takeover of our nation's health care system. The President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has called remarks denying the Holocaust by Bishop Richard Williamson of the Priestly Society of St. Pius X, "deeply offensive and utterly false." The assessment came in a February 3 statement by Cardinal Francis George of Chicago, USCCB President. The Holocaust denial by Bishop Williamson was widely publicized after Pope Benedict XVI lifted the excommunication upon the bishops of the St. Pius X Society. Cardinal George's statement follows. The National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) has blanketed Congress with millions of dollars in campaign contributions, and venture capitalists have set their sights on taking over federal small business contracting programs.
