January 15, 2009Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Democrats and families who have been covered by the State Children's Health Insurance Program held a news conference in the Capitol today following the strong House vote to pass bipartisan legislation to expand SCHIP to cover 11 million children Below are the Speaker's opening remarks: "Good afternoon. This is indeed a happy day for us and we have some very special guests to celebrate with. Passage of the bipartisan children's health insurance bill is a monumental achievement for our children, and for our country, and certainly for this Congress.
