The replacement of three Republican leaders in the House of Representatives is "good news," Richard A. Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com, said. "But it's just a start." The party whip, conference chairman, and campaign chairman were all replaced by members of the House GOP's conservative caucus. Said Viguerie, "These changes are encouraging. Republicans need leaders who will return the party to principled conservatism, and away from the corruption, incompetence, and Big Government Republicanism of the Bush era." Full release

A new post-election analysis of record turnout among Latino voters shows strong support for President-elect Obama and Democrats, but also reveals high expectations in the Latino community. The survey, commissioned by ImpreMedia in conjunction with the NALEO Educational Fund and Latino Decisions polling firm, found a significant increase in turnout among registered Latinos. Ninety-two percent of registered Latinos surveyed in the poll said they voted in this election, compared to 81.5% in 2004, the percentage cited in the Census Bureau's Current Population Survey. In response to Wal-Mart's announcement today that Mike Duke will replace Lee Scott as the Chief Executive Officer, Wal-Mart Watch Executive Director David Nassar released the following statement: "Wal-Mart's announcement today of Mike Duke as the new Chief Executive Officer must be viewed in the context of the recent election. It represents an opportunity for Wal-Mart to change from the low-wage, low-benefit business model to one that will be more appealing to an Obama administration." Full release

The following is a transcript of a press briefing on the condition of Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey: 9:26 A.M. EST MS. TALAMONA: Hi, thanks so much for being here. My name is Gina Talamona, I am a spokeswoman for the Department of Justice. The Attorney General had an uneventful night. He looks good and is very alert. The doctor's are describing him as very fit. All the tests have been reassuring. There is no indication that he suffered a stroke or any heart-related incident. It really appears to have been a fainting spell. You know, he works long days, he is very active, it was a late-night speech under hot lights. So all indications are at this point it was basically a fainting spell. They are doing another round of routine tests this morning. He certainly wants to leave and get back to the office as soon as possible. In fact, he is more than ready. The Deputy Attorney General will be over here today at 10:00 to brief him on some Department issues. We are going to continue to update you as we receive additional information. Full release
