October 22, 2008 October 22, 2008Long before Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac needed a taxpayer-funded bailout this summer, Congressional Democrats began pushing an "affordable housing trust fund." A priority of Democrat leaders, it was created to benefit some of their biggest political allies, including groups like the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Instead of taking action to reign in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, who played a central role in the nation's housing crisis, Democrats chose instead to add new liabilities to the economy and enable their ACORN friends. Governor Edward G. Rendell today accepted Florida Governor Charlie Crist's friendly wager over theoutcome of the World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays. When the Phillies win, Governor Crist will send Governor Rendell stone crab claws and a box of oranges. (Nasdaq: SCOR), a leader in measuring the digital world, today released a study of visitation to political blogs and news sites during the 2008 presidential election season, which showed strong gains at most sites compared to year ago. HuffingtonPost.com led among a group of selected stand-alone political blogs and news sites with 4.5 million visitors in September, up 472 percent versus year ago, while Politico.com attracted 2.4 million visitors (up 344 percent) and DrudgeReport.com saw 2.1 million visitors (up 70 percent). A new national poll by Harvard University's Institute of Politics (IOP), located at Harvard Kennedy School, finds 18-24 year-old likely voters continue to strongly prefer U.S. Senator Barack Obama (56%) over U.S. Senator John McCain (30%) in the race for President. Economic issues are far and away the number one national issue of concern for young people -- over ten times more important today (53%) than they were just one year ago (5%). Full release Posted by

The Franklin & Marshall College National Poll, produced in partnership with Hearst-Argyle Television, finds that Barack Obama leads John McCain nationally by five percentage points (50% to 45%) among likely voters with 2% undecided. The following editorial from the New Hampshire Union Leader is being issued today by the Republican National Committee: Sen. Barack Obama claims that if only we let him raise taxes on a measly 5 percent of "working Americans," he could do great things. Well, that sounds just peachy. Tax the rich, give to everyone else. On a conference call today, the National and California State Democratic Parties called on the Republican Party to end their hypocrisy on voter registration fraud and sever all ties with long-time GOP Operative Mark Jacoby. Jacoby is the owner of Young Political Majors (YPM) who was arrested in California last weekend on two counts of voter registration fraud and two counts of perjury. Jacoby faced allegations of voter fraud in 2004 when he worked for Arno Political Consultants. YPM is currently under contract with the California State Republican Party to register voters. John McCain's California Co-Chair is also a leading supporter of the CA Republican State Party's voter registration efforts. Just yesterday, campaign finance reports revealed that the McCain-Palin campaign and the RNC have paid Nathan Sproul, a Republican operative who has faced numerous charges of unethical and potentially illegal activity surrounding voter registration.
