HCD Research and the Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion conducted a national communications research study of Senator John McCain's acceptance speech last night using a new on-line technology. Full release

Amnesty International is concerned by allegations of excessive use of force and mass arrests by police at demonstrations in St. Paul, Minnesota during the Republican National Convention (RNC) from September 1-4, 2008. The human rights organization is calling on the city and county authorities to ensure that all allegations of ill-treatment and other abuses are impartially investigated, with a review of police tactics and weapons in the policing of demonstrations. Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today in support of the aims of the "Stand Up to Cancer" telethon, to be aired on all networks tonight: "There is not a person in our country who has not seen a loved one suffer because of cancer. Cancer kills 565,000 Americans annually, and each year there are more than 1.4 million new cases. All Americans must work together to make eradicating the scourge of cancer a national priority of the highest order." Full release

The Republican National Convention concluded last night with no mention of the domestic AIDS epidemic in the United States and only passing reference to the epidemic overseas. Neither Presidential nominee Sen. John McCain nor Vice Presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin mentioned AIDS in their remarks to Convention delegates. Full release

As the general election campaign begins in earnest today, the National Federation of Independent Business (http://www.nfib.com) is looking to the two presidential candidates for a greater focus on the healthcare concerns of small business. Now that the Democratic and Republican conventions are over, NFIB is asking both candidates to fully consider the significant obstacles faced by small businesses as they further develop their healthcare plans. Speaker Nancy Pelosi today issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released its employment report for August showing a loss of another 84,000 American jobs, and an unemployment rate that climbed to 6.1 percent -- the highest since September 2003. The economy has lost jobs for eight straight months, with a total of 605,000 American jobs lost this year.

The site has research and information concerning the Delaware Senator and will help inform voters that Biden is not your average Joe. This evening U.S. Sen. John McCain will accept the Republican Party's nomination for President of the United States. The full text of Sen. McCain's acceptance speech, as prepared for delivery, is below. U.S. Sen. John McCain- Thank you all very much. Tonight, I have a privilege given few Americans - - the privilege of accepting our party's nomination for President of the United States. And I accept it with gratitude, humility and confidence. In my life, no success has come without a good fight, and this nomination wasn't any different. That's a tribute to the candidates who opposed me and their supporters. They're leaders of great ability, who love our country, and wished to lead it to better days. Their support is an honor I won't forget.
