A new Sacred Heart University national poll found 64.9% of Americans say the purported national media "love affair" with U.S. Senator Barack Obama is very (30.5%) or somewhat real (34.4%). Another 26.5% suggested the love affair was somewhat unreal (8.5%) or not at all real (18.0%). Others, 8.6%, were unsure. Full release Posted by

If John McCain picks Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty as his running mate this week, he'll be allying himself with a key Bush supporter and leaving no doubt that McCain means four more years of the same failed Bush economic policies and same old politics. Pawlenty is such a strong supporter of President Bush that he would, in his own words, "stand with President Bush if his approval rating was 2 percent." Standing by Bush would be nothing new for Pawlenty, who was an early supporter of Bush's risky Social Security privatization scheme, which would cost Americans $1 trillion initially -- that's just to transition to private accounts -- and a total of $5 trillion over 20 years. With the Democratic National Convention set to kick off in Denver today, the Democratic National Committee released a new web video called "Totally in Agreement" that highlights McCain's promise of more of the same failed Bush policies. The video features McCain in his own words bragging about voting with President Bush more than 90 percent of the time and being "totally in agreement and support of President Bush" on what he calls the transcendent issues of the day.
