Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) will bring its national tour of a life-size Guantanamo prison cell replica to Saint Paul, Minnesota starting Sunday, August 31 through Wednesday, September 3. Visitors are encouraged to experience the cell and push the Bush administration to shut down Guantanamo. Full release

Taylor Marsh, a strong progressive voice and Clinton supporter, now backing Obama, is available for commentary and expert analysis as the Democratic National Convention unfolds. Last night John McCain held a fund-raiser in Atlanta, GA, with help from George W. Bush smear architect and Jack Abramoff crony Ralph Reed, who brags of being a member of McCain's "Victory 2008" team. Although Reed was hastily directed away from attending the McCain fundraiser after a storm of stories exposed Reed's $4.2-million-dollar tie to Abramoff and his lead role in Bush's vicious 2000 smear campaign in South Carolina, McCain's still accepting the $1.75 million Reed helped raise for him. It's more of the same from McCain, whose double-talk on ethics means saying he'll ban lobbyists from his campaign even as he embraces them behind closed doors, on-board the Straight Talk Express, in the front rows of his campaign events, and, as last night in Atlanta, at high-dollar fundraisers. Thousands of women and girls will gather on Aug. 25, the first day of the Democratic National Convention, for "Unconventional Women," a symposium designed to raise the diverse voices of women in American politics. This nonpartisan event is open to the public. Full release

The following advisory is being released by the Institute for Policy Innovation: WHAT: A new op/ed published today in the Wall Street Journal exposes Barack Obama's tax plan as a combination of increased tax rates for every major federal tax along with a series of federal spending programs hidden in the tax code as "refundable tax credits." Author of the op/ed, IPI Director of Entitlement and Budget Policy Peter Ferrara, calls the plan "The New Tax Welfare," explaining that the refundable tax credits Obama proposes would primarily go to those who already pay little or nothing in federal income taxes. The Democratic National Committee today released a new video called "Five Million" that uses McCain's own words, the impact of his tax plan and reports that McCain is still considering former Senator Phil Gramm as a potential Treasury Secretary to show how out of touch he is with the challenges facing America's working families. Nearly three out of four (74 percent) American voters agree that, "home care is part of the solution to the problem of rapidly increasing Medicare spending for America's seniors." Voters age 55-plus are even more likely to agree (81 percent). Full release
