Following the decision of the Icelandic government to start tendering exclusive licences in January 2009 for oil exploration in the Dreki area (in the Atlantic, northeast of Iceland on the Jan Mayen Ridge, between Iceland and Jan Mayen Island), an international conference has been announced in Reykjavik on 4-5
September. The Icelandic National Energy Authority and the Ministry of Industry have organized the conference, which is entitled Iceland Exploration Conference 2008. Full release

The majority of Alaskans support increased access to domestic oil and natural gas resources, a new survey finds."These latest numbers are indicative of increased public sentiment nationwide and closely mirror the findings of recent national polls. C-SPAN announces today its "Convention Hub," a unique online addition to the network's coverage of the upcoming 2008 Democratic and Republican conventions. As John McCain continues his "Job-Killing John" tour in Pennsylvania today, it's clearer than ever how out of touch he is with working Americans. McCain is insulated from the economic struggles of most Americans. The Democratic National Committee today launched the first web ad of the Exxon-McCain '08 campaign. The ad, called "Exxon John," highlights McCain's promise of more giveaways for his new friends in Big Oil.
