Despite a multimillion-dollar campaign to convince lawmakers that they should allow drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska, the American public is not buying the oil industry's arguments, according to a new national poll conducted over the past week and released today.

This morning the McCain campaign sent around a video clip of John McCain on Good Morning America under the "In Case You Missed It" headline. What the clip did not include, however, is Senator McCain misleading the voters on his own admission that the economy is something "I still need to be educated on" despite his 25 years in Washington. When the reporter interviewing McCain began her question by noting that McCain has "admitted that you're not exactly an expert when it comes to the economy," McCain interrupted and said "I have not. On a conference call today, DNC Vice Chair Linda Chavez-Thompson, the first woman appointed as an executive vice president of the AFL-CIO, and Mark Levinson, Chief Economist for UNITE HERE, discussed John McCain's trip to Colombia and Mexico, his insistence on continuing George Bush's failed economic policies and his reliance on shady lobbyist advisers like Charlie Black. As they made clear, McCain's trip shows he won't stand up for America's workers, but he will stand up for lobbyists like Charlie Black and the special interest friends funding his campaign. While John McCain travels to Colombia and Mexico this week, he'll be talking about how trade creates jobs. What he won't mention is that the trade deals he has favored have created jobs overseas, not here at home. According to one study, NAFTA has actually displaced over 1 million jobs in this country, including 16,000 in his home state of Arizona. Today, The Washington Post Reported That Obama Received A Sweetheart Mortgage Deal For His Chicago Mansion: Obama Received A Discounted Rate On His $1.32 Million Mortgage For His Georgian Mansion In Chicago. "Shortly after joining the U.S. Senate and while enjoying a surge in income, Barack Obama bought a $1.65 million restored Georgian mansion in an upscale Chicago neighborhood.
