During a town hall meeting in New Hampshire yesterday, John McCain told the voters, "I am not for privatizing Social Security. I never have been. I never will be." But as a new video released by the Democratic National Committee shows, Senator McCain clearly does support privatizing Social Security. In 2004, Senator McCain said, "Without privatization, I don't see how you can possibly, over time, make sure that young Americans are able to receive Social Security benefits." In 2005 Senator McCain hit the road with President Bush to help promote the President's failed effort to promote private accounts. In fact, as recently as March 2008, McCain told the Wall Street Journal he still supports President Bush's plan and is "totally in favor of personal savings accounts."

John McCain says he wants to bring a new transparency standard to campaigns. Yet just yesterday, after billing a campaign event as a town hall for Republicans, Independents and Democrats, Fox News revealed that the audience had been filled with campaign supporters and invited guests, not the general public. Looks like instead of offering change, all Senator McCain offers is a third Bush term of a president who only wants to hear from people who agree with him. Add to this the fact that John McCain has refused to release many of his tax records and has lobbyists running his campaign, and it's clear that Senator McCain's campaign is anything but transparent. Obama Has Proposed A Laundry List Of Tax Hikes, But Ohio Taxpayers Already Have A Large Enough Tax Burden: Obama Has Called For Higher Income Taxes, Social Security Taxes, Capital Gains And Dividend Taxes, And Corporate Taxes, As Well As "Massive New Domestic Spending." "Obama's transformation, if you go by his campaign so far, would mean higher income taxes, higher Social Security taxes, higher investment taxes, higher corporate taxes, massive new domestic spending, and a healthcare plan that perhaps could be the next step to a full-scale, single-payer system.
