The chairman of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency today urged law enforcement agencies to demand that Congress restore federal funding to programs that provide services for victims of crime, criminal justice and public safety. Full release

RNC Chairman Robert M. "Mike" Duncan announced today that Tricia Pearson has been named Regional Political Director for the Northwest. "As we near Election Day, it is crucial that we have Regional Political Directors in the field who assist and counsel our campaigns," Duncan said. While Senator McCain is now trying to change his rhetoric after months of running to the right on the campaign trail, he can't change the facts. He has consistently put the interests of his key campaign contributors ahead of environmental protection. His campaign is being directed and funded by the same oil company lobbyists who crafted President Bush's energy policies. Leading environmental watchdog groups have given his voting record dismally low ratings, and just last week Senator McCain promised to nominate more of the same right wing judges who would gut environmental protections. Senator McCain's double talk on the environment even extends to the venue for today's remarks. He is speaking at a wind turbine manufacturing company, despite consistently opposing efforts to invest in wind and solar technologies. Full release

Campaign Money Watch called on Senator John McCain (R-AZ) today to fire three Washington lobbyists working on his campaign team whose lobbying clients include brutal foreign interests and big oil companies. The demand comes after a weekend that saw key figures in McCain's campaign resign for lobbying for Myanmar's military junta. Full release

On the campaign trail John McCain casts himself as a conservationist and environmentalist, saying we have a "sacred duty to be proper stewards of the resources upon which the quality of American life depends." Yet at the same time, McCain's fundraisers and advisers helping his campaign have been on the wrong side of the issues. And a little investigation reveals that the lobbyists raising money for and running McCain's campaign have earned $13.1 million dollars lobbying for oil companies and worked for companies responsible for oil spills, water and air pollution. In it, Shirley Golub, who is challenging Nancy Pelosi for the Democratic party nomination in California's 8th Congressional district, compares Pelosi to a rubber chicken for her cowardice in not standing up to the White House on impeachment, ending the funding for the Iraq occupation, and more.

Esperanza, the largest Hispanic faith-based organization in the country, today announces their support of H.R. 1108, "The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act." The legislation gives FDA regulatory authority over tobacco products. Full release
