Ex-Congressman Foley Needs Sexual Reorientation, Not Alcohol Rehab
October 23, 2006In response to national exposure of his sexually explicit emails to teenage boys, former Congressman Mark Foley announced that he is "gay," was molested by an older man as a teenager, and has entered an alcohol rehabilitation facility.
The Log Cabin Republicans, a homosexual Republican group, and the Human Rights Campaign, a gay activist group, publicly endorsed Foley's voting record and candidacy.
"Both groups oppose the message of hope for overcoming unwanted same-sex attractions by denying the facts that ex-gays do exist and that change is possible. We want Mr. Foley to know that help is available, since he will not hear it from anyone in his circles," said Regina Griggs, executive director of Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX).
