Hastert: 'House of Representatives Voted to Stand Up For Freedom'; 42 Democrats Join House Republicans to Support Global War on Terror
June 16, 2006"Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) today issued the following statement regarding H. Res. 861, declaring that the United States will prevail in the Global War on Terror, the struggle to protect freedom from the terrorist adversary, which passed on a 256-153 vote:
"Today, the House of Representatives voted to stand up for freedom. We are pleased that 42 Democrats defied their leadership and stood with House Republicans to support both our troops and their mission to win the Global War on Terror." [Read more]
