January 30, 2006"In a stunning blow to the prospects for Israeli-Palestinian peace, Hamas has won a majority of seats in the Palestinian parliamentary elections. Voters went to the polls and rejected the longtime rule of the Fatah party currently led by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
