House Leadership Congratulates Iraq on Another Historic Milestone
October 25, 2005"Today, House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL), acting Majority Leader Roy Blunt (R-MO), Republican Conference Chairman Deborah Pryce (R-OH), Chairman David Dreier (R-CA) and Chief Deputy Majority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA), made the following statement in commending the adoption of the Iraqi draft constitution:
"Another great stride was made today in Iraq. Nearly eighty percent of the Iraqi people in a democratically held election voted in favor of the referendum to approve a draft constitution. Like many free people across the world, millions of Iraqis will soon realize the rights and freedoms of a constitution." [Read more]
