California Couple Donates $10 Million to Combat Poverty Around the World
September 15, 2005"A California couple well-known for their philanthropy have pledged $10 million to two nonprofit organizations that are working to alleviate global poverty.
Janet McKinley and George Miller, of San Francisco, are donating $5 million to Oxfam America, in Boston, and $5 million to the Grameen Foundation USA, in Washington. Their gift is being honored this week at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City, which works to strengthen the capacity of people around the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence."
